Featured Company: DLA Piper Singapore - Everything Matters
May 1, 2012
DLA Piper is a global full-service business law firm with over 4,200 lawyers in offices throughout Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. “Everything Matters” is not just how it refers to its service to its clients - it also reflects its commitment to support communities through volunteerism, pro-bono work and environmental responsibility.
In each of DLA Piper’s offices around the world, the company makes a serious commitment to public service by dedicating time and legal services to projects related to education, enterprise and equality. The contribution ranges from major, multi-regional initiatives of global concern to local arrangements benefiting schools and charities in local communities. In 2011, DLA Piper donated more than 193,000 hours, for a contribution of $108 million worldwide through pro bono and corporate responsibility initiatives. Along with the firm’s commitment to helping those in need, they have also pledged a firm commitment to the global environment. In 2007, the firm became one of the first in the legal field to launch a global sustainability initiative aimed at reducing environmental impact. Through the enthusiastic commitment of their people, DLA Piper is making meaningful changes to its business across their offices worldwide, particularly in the key areas of energy, waste, travel and procurement.
DLA Piper's Singapore office is now an official Participating Enterprise in Singapore Children Society's "1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need" initiative, joining the ranks of more than 500 successful companies who have since participated.
The DLA Piper Singapore office continues to build on the success of its inaugural joint-event held with the Singapore Children's Society in December 2011 - a "Movie Day Out" for over 40 disadvantaged children. It has confirmed its participation in Children’s Society's “Walk for our Children” charity event to be held on 29th July 2012 at the Bishan - Ang Mo Kio Park. In addition, DLA Piper Singapore employees will soon participate in the Children's Society weekly volunteering program with disadvantaged children at "Sunbeam Place" - an approved home for abused and neglected children in Singapore in need of safety and protection or whose parents are unable to provide proper care. The office is committed to developing relationships with its local clients’ corporate responsibility representatives in order to share best practices and target joint events.
Singapore Children’s Society would like to thank DLA Piper Singapore for lending its support to the 1000 Enterprises for Children-in-need program and its participation in the upcoming walkathon event. Your company can help too. Contact us to find out more!
