2014 Thomsons Singapore Relay Challenge

Thomsons Online Benefits, a global benefits and employee engagement software company, today announces it has organised the 2014 Thomsons Singapore Relay Challenge, a fundraising activity for the benefit of the Singapore Children’s Society

 

Thomsons Singapore team, consisting of 36 employees, will take part in the relay challenge on Saturday, 13th September 2014,and will walk and backwards-walk, roller-blade, swim, segway, while one team will cycle across the island. Thomsons will be covering locations including Elgin Bridge -Downtown, Changi Beach Park -East, Marina Country Club, Kranji MRT-North, Jurong River-West, The Jewel Box and SunShine Plaza C Thomsons Singapore offices.

 

Francis Ng, General Manager, Asia Pacific, Thomsons Online Benefits, said: “We are glad to have the zealous participation not only of our colleagues at Thomsons, but also our circle of friends and families in this meaningful activity of raising funds for such a worthy cause. Our charity of choice, the Singapore Children’s Society, aligns with our belief that helping children in-need will provide them learning and enriching opportunities that can help lead to their brighter and better future. It is our hope that by contributing to activities that improve the lives of the children today, they could pay it forward as they grow up, and give back to society.”

 

Ng added, “The company relay is part of our “Pay It Forward” initiative that is based on a simple premise of asking someone to repay kindness by doing a good deed for someone else.”

 

Through the “Pay It Forward” scheme, Thomsons matches dollar for dollar up to $500 for the funds raised by each employee. In 2013, Thomsons also raised funds for the Singapore Children’s Society through direct contributions, and by participating in the Gunung Ledang Challenge where 11 of its employees climbed Mount Ophir. Thomsons also adopted a game stall at the Society’s annual funfair and walkathon, and holds regular fundraising activities such as sales of second hand office equipment and auctions participated by its own employees.

 

With one of the company’s core values “Being Brilliant Together”, Thomsons collectively engages in giving back to its community. With headquarters in the UK and three offices internationally, Thomsons has been organising annual relay challenges, triathlons, mountain climbing and other interactive fundraising for years. Thomsons has supported a variety of causes that aided children’s hospital, cancer patients, and homeless people among others.

 

Last week, Thomsons concluded a relay in Romania and are concurrently doing the relay challenge in Singapore and the UK this weekend.
